Mrs Helen Wolstenholme


Independent Speech & Language Therapist

Helen has a BSc Hons Degree in Speech and Language Therapy, qualifying in 1996 from University Wales Institute Cardiff. 

Helen has a particular interest in the areas of speech sound disorders, literacy, dyspraxia, language delay/disorder, dyslexia, selective mutism, bilingualism and high functioning autistic spectrum disorder.

Helen also has a young family of her own so understands the demands upon parents and seeks to offer a flexible service to fit in around your family and work commitments.

She offers speech therapy in Herts (and surrounding areas) at your home or your child's school/nursery, or her home, based in Watford

Helen is registered with the following professional organisations:

  • The Health & Care Professionals Council (HCPC) which is required by law
  • The Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP) which provides professional guidelines to all Independent SLTs and access to support and training information
  • The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) the professional body for SLTs in the UK.

Helen has a current Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Poilice Check (or DBS as it is now known) and is committed to maintaining her professional development by attending regular training, conferences (e.g. Autism Show) and keeping abreast of latest research. She has undertaken additional training which includes:

  • Non directive play and communication
  • Auditory attention & listening disorders

  • Palin Parent Child Interaction Therapy (Michael Palin Centre for Stammering)
  • Lidcombe Trained (stammering intervention for children)
